Young Athletes Quadrathlon Sportcity Manchester 29th June 2019

Three Warrington Athletic Club athletes took part in the Young Athletes Quadrathlon competition at Sportcity Manchester on Saturday 29th June.
In the under 11 girls event Ellie Barker finished in 4th place just 6 points behind the Bronze Medallist.Ellie was 2nd fastest in the 75 metres smashing her best time with 11.25 seconds (69 points),6th best in the Vortex Javelin with 21.62 metres in her first time throwing in the event (69 points),smashed her best time in the 600 metres with the 5th fastest time of 2 minutes 00.22 seconds (77 points) and also smashed her best distance in the Long Jump with the 2nd longest jump of 3.66 metres (73 points ) to total 288 points.
In the under 15 girls Amelia Smithers in her first year in the age group finished in 21st equal position with 201 points recording 14.57 seconds for the 100 metres (40 points),6.45 metres in the Shot (50 points),2 minutes 48.60 seconds in the 800 metres (56 points) and 4.14 metres in the Long Jump (55 points).her performances in the 100 metres and Long Jump were both personal bests.
In the under13 boys Lewis Shaw who has recently transferred from Sutton St Helens and was cleared to compete for Warrington from 22nd June finished in 18th place with a total of 136 points.Lewis recorded 15.52 seconds in the 100 metres (26 points),4.24 metres in the Shot (23 points),3 minutes 08.25 seconds in the 800 metres (43 points) and 3.72 metres in the Long Jump (44 points).Lewis had not competed in the 100/800 or Shot before and only missed his personal best in the Long Jump by 1 centimetre.
