National Road Relays Sutton Park 13th October 2013

The National Road Relays were held at Sutton Park Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 13th October over the usual course in wet conditions. Pride of place goes to the under 17 Women's A team who took the Silver Medals with Harriet Knowles-Jones running the fastest lap. On the first Stage Lissie Smith ran well to hand over in 18th place in 14 minutes 50 seconds to Harriet Knowles-Jones. Harriet proceeded to rip the fied apart as she charged through to the lead eventually handing over 42 seconds clear as she recorded 13 minutes 16 seconds. Alysha Goddard took over for the final stage but despite a good run she was unable to hold on to the lead but was still clear in the Silver Medal Position as she recorded 14 minutes 52 seconds. Carys McAulay in her first race since returning from the USA ran the first leg for the B team in 15 minutes 28 seconds in 24th place and handing on to Kiera Grady who dropped 4 places to 28th place in 16 minutes 23 seconds but there was no third runner to complete the team.
In the under 15 girls race Vicky Ramsbottom ran well on the first stage for the A team to hand over in 35th place in 15 minutes 25 seconds handing over to Melissa Boyer. Melissa moved the team up to 27th place as she recorded 15 minutes 17 seconds befoer passing on to Lauren Goddard for the final stage Lauren ran well to record 15 minutes 44 seconds as she held her position. The B team was led off by Lauren Ferris with 15 minutes 43 seconds in 43rd place handing on to Olivia Bush who moved up 2 places with 16 minutes 03 seconds. Georgia Aston-Massey took over for the final stage running 16 minutes 33 seconds to move up to 40th place.
The under 13 boys were the only other team to compete with Sam Evans running an excellent first stage to hand over to Ben Harrison in 6th place after 14 minutes 06 seconds. Ben ran well on the next stage but dropped back to 15th place with 15 minutes 40 seconds. Jordan Jones took over for the final stage running well but dropping back to finish in 20th place after 16 minutes 05 seconds.
