National Cross Country Relays 2nd November 2013 Berry Hill Park Mansfield

The National Cross Country Relays were held on Saturday 2nd November over the traditional course in Berry Hill Park Mansfield with Warrington Athletic Club being represented in 6 of the 10 races. In the women's events the highest placed team was the under 17's. On the first stage Alysha Goddard ran well to record 9 minutes 36.65 seconds to hand over in 21st place. Harriet Knowles-Jones took over for the next stage and proceeded to charge through the field recording the second fastest time of the day with 8 minutes 38.55 seconds and handed over in 2nd place just failing to catch the leading team by 1.15 seconds. Kiera Grady took over for the final stage and despite a good run dropped back to finish in 11th place recording 10 minutes 38.95 seconds for a total time of 28 minutes 54.15 seconds.
In the under 15 Girls race Vicky Ramsbottom ran well on the first stage to hand over in 29th place in 7 minutes 41.85 seconds to Melissa Boyer. Melissa ran well on the next stage recording 8 minutes 04.40 seconds but dropping back to 32nd place. Lauren Ferris took the final stage and ran well to move up one place finishing in 31st place with a time of 8 minutes 00.70 seconds for a total time of 23 minutes 46.95 seconds. Georgia Aston-Massey ran well on the first stage for the B team recording 8 minutes 17.55 seconds in 76th place and Amy Gibbons on the second stage recording 8 minutes 16.10 seconds moving up to 58th place but unfortunately there was not a third stage runner.
In the men's events the under 13's were the highest placed team. On the first Stage Sam Evans had an outstanding run handing over in 2nd place with the second fastest time of the race recording 6 minutes 55.20 seconds. Ben Harrison took over for the second stage and ran well to record 7 minutes 52.00 seconds but dropped back to 7th place. On the final stage Jordan Jones ran well recording ran well recording 8 minutes 10.60 seconds but dropping back to 23rd place in a total time of 22 minutes 57.80 seconds. all three runners in the team are eligible for the same age group next year.
In the under 15 boys race the team all in their first year in the age group ran well. On the first stage Jack Stubbings recorded 7 minutes 12.40 seconds to hand over in 51st place to Daniel Fox. Daniel despite running well dropped back to 55th place recording 7 minutes 42.05 seconds. Luke Gamble took over for the final stage and pulled the team back up to 51st place recording 7 minutes 29.80 seconds for a total time of 22 minutes 24.25 seconds.
In the under 17 men's race Liam Burthem had an excellent run recording 9 minutes 20.50 seconds to hand over in 9th place to Robert Dykes. Robert ran well but dropped back to 19th place recording 10 minutes 32.40 seconds. Chris Fance took over for the final stage and ran well to record 10 minutes 44.60 seconds but dropped back to eventually finish in 29th place in a total time of 30 minutes 37.50 seconds.
In the under 20 men's race Cameron Field ran well on the first stage in 31st place recording 9 minutes 26.45 seconds. Liam Renton took over and ran well to move up to 20th place recording 9 minutes 34.40 seconds. Unfortunately due to injuries to Sam Dykes and Chris Smith the team was unable to complete the race.
