Manchester Area Cross Country League 7th December 2013 Sherdley Park

Seventeen Warrington Athletic Club runners travelled to hilly Sherdley Park St Helens for the third round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League. In the men's events Sam Evans continued his dominance in the league taking his third victory in the under 13 age group recording 11 minutes 46 seconds to win by 11 seconds. Behind Sam in 9th place with a good run was Ben Harrison recording 12 minutes 51 seconds. In the under 15 boys new recruit Owen Lee had his best run so far finishing in 7th place in 20 minutes 20 seconds. Behind Owen in 14th place was Jack Stubbings in 21 minutes 06 seconds and completing the counters in 22nd place was Sam Rostron in 22 minutes 02 seconds showing improved form each time out after a year blighted by illness to bring the team into 5th place. Daniel Fox completed the contingent in this race finishing 24th in 22 minutes 42 seconds.
In the under 17 men's race Daniel Evans continued his comeback from injury and returned to winning ways taking the victory in 22 minutes 17 seconds from team mate Liam Burthem who came home in 22 minutes 35 seconds in second place. The counters were completed by Leighton Sharman in 8th place in 24 minutes 05 seconds to take 1st place in the team race. Robert Dykes completed the club runners in 13th place in 25 minutes 11 seconds.
In the women's events the under 11 girls were led home by Lucia Meloni in 8th place in 9 minutes 31 seconds and was backed up by Ashley Nemits 13th in 9 minutes 48 seconds and Maya Evans 24th in 10 minutes 06 seconds to finish 4th in the team race. Behind them Lydia Blair and Charlotte Stokes had a battle between themselves and finished in 33rd and 34th places recording 10 minutes 34 seconds and 10 minutes 45 seconds respectively. The final runner in the women's events was under 17 Jemma Eyre finishing 23rd in her race in 25 minutes 48 seconds.
