Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships 18th January 2014 Knights Grange Winsford

Twenty five Warrington Athletic Club runners represented Warrington Schools in the Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships held at Knights Grange Winsford on Saturday 18th January hoping to qualify for the Cheshire Team for the English Schools Championships.The qualifying conditions for the English were automatic selection for the first 5 places with 3 other places chosen by the team manager from those finishing 6th to 10th.As the Minors do not compete in the English there is an Inter County Match where the top 20 from the Cheshire will be invited to compete.The club had 5 runners taking part in the Minor age group.
In the Minor Boys race Sam Evans continued his good form to take the title with Ben Harrison in third,Tom Davenport 5th and Jordan Jones 8th meaning that all four will take part in the inter county match.In the Girls race Maeve Shelley ran well to finish in 63rd place
In the Junior Age Group Lauren Ferris continued from the county championships two weeks ago to take the Girls title and was followed over the line by Melissa Boyer 3rd and Lauren Goddard 5th to make the Cheshire Team.Isabelle Trevithick had an excellent run to finish in 8th place and now waits to find out if she will be selected as does Amy Gibbons in 10th place.Megan Atherton 26th,Gemma Brocklehurst 62nd and Jessica Wall 63rd all ran well.
In the Boys race Jack Stubbings ran well to finish in 2nd place and is joined in the Cheshire team by Sam Rostron in 5th place.Luke Gamble ran well to finish in 19th place and Zach Mills finished in 62nd place.
In the Intermediate age group Daniel Evans made a return to winning ways taking the Boys title and Owen Lee 7th and Leighton Sharman 9th may join him in the Cheshire team at the managers discretion.Robert Dykes ran well to finish in 21st place
In the Girls race Vicky Ramsbottom having dropped out of the county championships with illness returned to form to take the Bronze Medal and Sarah McGrail joins her in the team with a 5th place finish.Olivia Bush in 7th place awaits the managers decision while Georgia Aston-Massey just misses out in 12th place.
In the Senior Age Group Cameron Field and Liam Burthem both continued there good form to finish 1st and 2nd respectively to qualify for the Cheshire team while Chris Fance just misses out finishing in 11th place.
In the Girls race Alysha Goddard joins her younger sister Lauren in the Cheshire team with a good run to finish in 4th place while Elise Bate finished in 16th place
