Northern U/13-U/15 Indoor Championships 2nd February 2014 EIS Sheffield

Three of Warrington Athletic Club’s young athletes travelled to the EIS Sheffield on Sunday 2nd February for the under13-under15 Northern Indoor Championships.Eleven year old Sam Evans having picked up the Bronze Medal in the Northern Cross Country at sodden Knowsley Safari Park moved into the dry for the under 13 boys 800 metres.With the event being run as a time trial in two heats Sam took the lead from the gun in his heat and set a fast pace leading for the first three laps but was unable to hold the fast finish from Scott Nutter (Barnsley) who won with 2 minutes 22.08 seconds.Sam went one better than the Cross Country to take the Silver Medal with 2 minutes 24.02 seconds setting an indoor personal best time.
In the under 15 Boys age group Fisayo(Fizz) Williamson-Taylor had a busy day taking part in the 60 metres and 200 metres involving 6 races.In the 60 metres Fizz won his Heat in 7.58 seconds then his Semi-Final in 7.52 seconds to equal his personal best.In the Final he had to give best to Jona Efoloko (Sale) 1st in an excellent 7.10 seconds and Oliver Wilby (Chesterfield) 7.48 seconds with Fizz taking the Bronze Medal in 7.55 seconds.In the 200 metres he again won his Heat in 24.41 seconds and his Semi-Final in 23.80 seconds.In the Final he went one better than the 60 metres taking the Silver Medal in 23.75 seconds behind Joshua Leatherd (Preston) who won with 23.70 seconds.His heat time was a new indoor personal best which he improved in both Semi-Final and Final both of which are faster than his outdoor best.
In the under 15 Girls age group Hannah Shaw took part in three events 60 metres,60 metres Hurdles and High Jump.In the 60 metres she finished 7th in her heat in 9.11 seconds and in the 60 metres Hurdles she finished 5th in her heat in 10.64 seconds but did not progress to the next round.In the High Jump she finished 9th with a jump of 1.40 metres.All three performances were personal bests.
