National Indoor u/15-u/17-u/20 Championships 1st/2nd March 2014 EIS Sheffield

The National Indoor Championships for under 15/under 17 and under 20 were held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield over the Weekend of 1st/2nd March with four Warrington Athletic Club athletes taking part.On Saturday the top performance came from Carys McAulay in the under 17 Womenís 800 metres where she won the Silver Medal in a closely contested race in a new personal best time of 2 minutes 16.16 seconds behind Sophie Mansfield (Crawley).This performance moves Carys to 3rd in the UK Rankings for under 17 Women and 2nd in the Scottish Rankings,Sophie Mansfield is ranked number one.In the Under 20 Menís 1500 metres Matt Wigelsworth was on course for a massive personal best until 1000 metres but was unable to sustain the pace and eventually finished in 10th place in 4 minutes 14.01 seconds.
In the under 15 age group Fisayo Williamson-Taylor smashed his personal best time in the heat of the 60 metres winning in 7.41 seconds.In his Semi-Final he placed 3rd in 7.45 seconds to qualify for the Final.In the Final Fisayo just missed out on equalling his new PB as he recorded 7.42 seconds in 6th place.
On the Sunday Fisayo returned for the 200 metres but found himself in the same heat as title favourite Jona Efoloko (Sale) and with only the winner of each heat plus two fastest losers to qualify for the final Fisayo was unable to progress finishing in 2nd place but breaking the personal best he set at the Northern Championships as he recorded 23.72 seconds.
In the under 17 Womenís 1500 metres Lizzie Smith ran in 3rd place for the first 1000 metres in a fast paced race before tying up and finishing 5th in 5 minutes 06.81 seconds.
