Northern League Salford 7th June 2014

The second round of the Northern League division 4W took place at Cleavelys Athletic Track Eccles on Saturday 7th June.Warrington Athletic Club finished in 4th place recording 6 A wins and 5 B wins and 6 personal bests. In the womenís events Carys McAulay won the A 400 metres in an excellent 57.5 seconds and took second place in the A 200 metres in a personal best time of 26.6 second.In the B events over the same distances Lizzie Smith won the 400 metres in a personal best of 60.9 seconds and finished 4th in the 200 metres in 28.2 seconds.Ellie Baker won the A High Jump with a new best height of 1.42 metres and finished 2nd in the A Long Jump with another best performance of 4.79 metres and was 4th in the A 100 metres in 13.3 seconds.Kiera Grady finished in 3rd place in the A 800 metres with a new best time of 2 minutes 30.0 seconds and Elise Bate won the B race in 2 minutes 48.2 seconds.All five of these girls are under 17.Heather Beeton competed in five events finishing 2nd in the A Hammer,4th in the A Discus and Javelin,5th in the A Shot and 2nd in the B Long Jump and Helen Darbyshire finished in 3rd place in the B Hammer.
In the Menís events James Webster on a visit back from Bath University comfortably won the A 400 metres hurdles in 54.9 seconds.Jack Gleave and Matt Wigelsworth covered the 200/400 and 800 metres events between them.In the A events Jack finished in 3rd place in the 200 metres in a personal best time of 23.8 seconds and won the 400 metres in 52.6 seconds and 800 metres in 1 minutes 59.0 seconds.In the B events Matt won all three with 24.3 seconds in the 200 metres,52.1 seconds in the 400 metres and 1 minute 58.8 seconds in the 800 metres.In the 1500metres Chris Fance won easily in a new best time of 4 minutes 19.7 seconds.Dave Spencer competed in the four throws events finishing in 4th place in the A Hammer (15.47m),6th in the A Discus (13.48m),6th in the A Javelin (19.11m) and 6th in the A Shot (5.69m).The Isle of Man team were unable to travel to the match due to the TT events taking place on the island.
