Northern u/15-u/17 Championships Wigan 16th-17th August 2014

The Northern Athletics Championships for under 15/under 17 took place over the weekend of 16th-17th August at Robin Park Wigan in very windy conditions with nine Warrington Athletic Club athletes taking part and collecting 3 medals.Top performance came from Fisayo Williamson-Taylor in the under 15 Boys where he took the Sprint Double of the 100 and 200 metres titles.In the 100 metres he won his heat in 11.61 seconds before going on to win the final in 11.57 seconds.In the 200 metres he again won his heat in 24.00 seconds and then won the final in 23.67 seconds.He won both titles comfortably by more than 0.25 seconds.In the under 17 Menís 100 metres Hurdles Cameron Meakin won the Silver Medal recording a time of 14.20 seconds.In the under 15 Boys 1500 metres Sam Rostron finished 6th in 5 minutes 01.36 seconds with Daniel Fox 7th in 5 minutes 03.36 seconds while in the under 17 menís 800 metres Owen Lee finished in 5th place in his heat in 2 minutes 07.05 seconds but failed to make the final.
In the Womenís events Carys McAulay was the only athlete to qualify for the final of an event.Following her international debut last weekend she competed in the under 17 womenís 300 metres finishing in 3rd place in her heat in 40.77 seconds before finishing in 4th place in the final in 40.35 seconds just outside her personal best time.Also in the under 17 womenís was Ellie Baker competing in the 100 metres,200 metres and Long Jump.In the 100 metres she was 6th in her heat in 13.14 seconds and in the 200 metres she was 5th in her heat with 27.52 seconds.In the Long Jump she finished in 13th place with a jump of 4.28 metres.In the under 15 age group Ellie Hough finished in 8th place in her heat of the 100 metres recording 13.85 seconds while Hannah Shaw was 8th in her heat of the 75 metres Hurdles in 13.10 seconds and finished in 8th place in the High Jump with 1.45 metres.
