English Nationa Cross Country Relays 1st November 2014 Berry Hill Park Mansfield

The English Cross Country Relay Championships were held over the usual course at Berry Hill Park Mansfield on Saturday 1st November. Warrington Athletic Club were represented in 5 of the races but only finished teams in 3 and collected the Gold Medals in the under 17 Women’s race.

In the under 17 Women’s race Katy Lowery who recently changed from Macclesfield to Warrington and was only given clearance to compete for the club in team competition from 1st November took the first stage and ran excellently to hand over in 5th place recording the 7th fastest time in the race of 8 minutes 48.75 seconds. Katy handed over to Sarah McGrail for the second stage and Sarah ran well to maintain 5th place recording 9 minutes 36.05 seconds in the process. Sarah handed over to Harriet Knowles-Jones for the final stage and Harriet produced the goods to move through to take the Gold Medals recording the fastest time with 8 minutes 19.00 seconds for a total time of 26 minutes 43.80 seconds. The B team of Jasmin Dobson (10 minutes 02.20 seconds), Olivia Bush (10 minutes 23.15 seconds) and Kiera Grady (11 minutes 23.75 seconds) all ran well to finish in 40th place in a total time of 31 minutes 49.10 seconds.

In the under 13 Girls race India Hayes ran well on the first stage to hand over in 23rd place with 7 minutes 50.35 seconds. Lydia Blair ran well to maintain that position recording 8 minutes 22.05 seconds and Lucia Meloni duplicated Lydia’s time on the final stage but dropped back to finish in 30th place in a total time of 24 minutes 34.45 seconds.

In the under 15 Boys race Jack Stubbings ran well on the first stage handing over in 34th place in 6 minutes 44.30 seconds to Luke Gamble. Luke also ran well moving the team up to 18th place recording 6 minutes 51.95 seconds before handing on to Sam Rostron for the final stage.Sam ran well to move up a further two places to 16th recording 6 minutes 44.90 seconds for a total time of 20 minutes 21.15 seconds.

In the under 17 and under 20 Men’s races they were unable to complete teams but all ran well. In the under 17 race Daniel Evans handed over in 3rd place recording the 10th fastest time of the race with 9 minutes 17 seconds exactly and Owen Lee dropped back to 10th place recording 10 minutes 01.55 seconds. In the under 20 race Cameron Field was up with the leaders early on but dropped back to finish hand over in 29th place in 9 minutes 18.65 seconds. Liam Burthem took over to move up to 15th place recording 9 minutes 20.05 seconds.
