Cheshire Cross Country Championships 3rd January 2015 Bolesworth Castle Estate

The Cheshire Cross Country Championships were held on Saturday 3rd January at the new venue of Bolesworth Castle Estate near Tattenhall and Warrington Athletic Club collected 4 Team titles plus 4 Individual Gold Medals,4 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals.Due to heavy rain in the morning the course had a lot of casual water over it and although the rain went off and the course drained it was still very muddy and heavy going.
The Day started with the under 11 age group where Ashley Nemits ran an excellent race to collect the Gold Medal in 7 minutes 43 seconds and was followed in by Maya Evans in Silver Medal position in 8 minutes 04 seconds and Molly Wormald in 4th place in 8 minutes 08 seconds just missing the Bronze Medal by 2 seconds.The three girls easily won the team Gold medals and Shield with 7 points.The B team of Eva Ferris 13th in 8 minutes 43 seconds,Jasmine Jones 18th in 9 minutes 11 seconds and Maisie Bell 19th in 9 minutes 12 seconds finished in 4th place with 50 points just 7 points away from the team Bronze.Isobel Houghton completed the club representation in the girls race in 22nd place in 9 minutes 18 seconds.In the Boys race Aiden Perkins ran well to finish in 13th place in 8 minutes 11 seconds and William Bainbridge was 22nd in 8 minutes 50 seconds.
In the under 13 age group there was another Individual Gold from Sam Evans who was in command of the race from the gun winning easily in 9 minutes 29 seconds to retain the title he won last year.Behind him Jordan Jones ran an excellently judged race to take the Bronze Medal in 9 minutes 57 seconds only just missing the Silver Medal by 1 second after a battle over the final 400 metres with Alfie Bould of Crewe and Nantwich.the team was completed by Lucas Hayes returning from a broken Collarbone finishing in 12th place in 10 minutes 58 seconds for the team to take the team Gold medals with 16 points.Toby Abbott ran well to finish in 17th place in 11 minutes 21 seconds.In the Girls race India Hayes had an excellent run taking the Silver Medal in 11 minutes 04 seconds and Charlotte Stokes ran well to finish in 24th place in 13 minutes 20 seconds.
In the under 15 age group the Girls race was won by Lauren Ferris with an excellent run of 14 minutes 51 seconds for Gold and was followed home by Melissa Boyer in the Bronze Medal position in 15 minutes 37 seconds and Lauren Goddard 4th in 15 minutes 44 seconds to take the Team Gold Medals with 8 points.Isabelle Trevithick 10th with 16 minutes 32 seconds and Amy Gibbons 11th in 17 minutes 30 seconds both ran well.In the Boys race Jack Stubbings ran excellently to take the Silver Medal in 17 minutes 21 seconds with Sam Rostron also having a good race finishing in 4th place in 17 minutes 59 seconds.
In the under 17 age group Jasmin Dobson had her best race to date running strongly throughout she moved through the field to eventually run out an excellent Bronze Medallist in 20 minutes 29 seconds.Jasmin was followed home by Lizzie Smith running her first Cross Country race in over a year in 4th place with 20 minutes 35 seconds and Sarah McGrail in 5th place in 20 minutes 41 seconds to win the Team Gold Medals with 12 points.Vicky Ramsbottom who had shared the lead with Lizzie for most of the race struggled towards the end and dropped back to finish in 7th place in 20 minutes 50 seconds.Kiera Grady completed the club representation in 18th place in 25 minutes 30 seconds.Robert Dykes was the only club runner in the Mens race running well to finish in 6th place in 26 minutes 45 seconds.In the under 20 age group Harriet Knowles-Jones was the only runner from the club moving up to the age group from although she is still under 17 she ran out the easiest winner of the day winning the Gold Medal by over 4 minutes 30 seconds with a time of 24 minutes 59 seconds.
The day was completed by the Senior Menís race where Tom Jervis ran an excellent race to take the Silver Medal in 36 minutes 35 seconds behind runaway winner former Warrington runner Danny Cliffe now with Liverpool Harriers.Behind him Steve Watmough finished in 76th place in 47 minutes 31 seconds and Tony McCarthy was 91st in 49 minutes 10 seconds.Steve finished 8th over 50 and Tony was 5th over 55 to finish.
