North of England Cross Country Championshis Pontefract Race Course 24th January 2015

The North of England Cross Country Championships took place at Pontefract Race Course on Saturday 24th January with 20 Warrington Athletic Club runners taking part and collecting two individual medals and two sets of team medals.
Top performance came from Harriet Knowles-Jones in the under 17 Womenís race where she dominated the race to run out the winner by 45 seconds the largest winning margin of the day as she retained her title in 16 minutes 27 seconds.Harriet was backed up by Jasmine Dobson 37th in 19 minutes 11 seconds,Lizzie Smith 41st in 19 minutes 37 seconds and Sarah McGrail 42nd in 19 minutes 40 seconds to win theBronze Medals with 121 points.
In the under 13 Boys Sam Evans ran an excellent race to take the Bronze Medal in 10 minutes 45 seconds only losing out on the Gold and Silver Medals over the final 800 metres.Sam was backed up by an excellent performance by Jordan Jones in 13th place in 11 minutes 08 seconds,Lucas Hayes 66th in 12 minutes 04 seconds and Toby Abbott 96th in 12 minutes 27 seconds to repeat the performance of the under 17 Girls and win the Bronze Medals with 178 points.
In the under 15 girls race Lauren Ferris had an excellent run to finish in 8th place in 16 minutes 11 seconds and along with Melissa Boyer 41st in 17 minutes 01 seconds,Isabelle Trevithick 85th in 18 minutes 08 seconds and Amy Gibbons 103rd in 18 minutes 39 seconds the team finished in 8th place with 237 points.
In the under 13 Girls race India Hayes was first to finish running well to finish in 18th place in 12 minutes 12 seconds,with Lydia Blair 90th in 13 minutes 18 seconds and Charlotte Stokes 139th in 13 minutes 59 seconds but they did not have a 4th runner to complete the team.
In the Boys under 15 race the team was also incomplete with Jack Stubbings being first finisher running well to finish in 24th place in 14 minutes 37 seconds,Sam Rostron 60th in 15 minutes 15 seconds and Luke Gamble 81st in 15 minutes 36 seconds.
In the under 20 race Matt Wigelsworth ran well to finish in 19th place in 28 minutes 04 seconds and the day was brought to a close by the Senior Menís race with Steve Burthem 412th in 51 minutes 58 seconds.
