Virgin Money London Marathon 26th April 2015

Four of Warrington Athletic Club’s young athletes represented the North West in the Virgin Money London Mini Marathon incorporating the British Road Race Championships on Sunday 26th April with Harriet Knowles-Jones having won the under 15 race two years ago she went one place better than last year in the under 17 race to record her second win in the event winning by 29 seconds in 16 minutes 07 seconds for the final three miles of the Marathon route.Harriet led the North West Team to second place.
In the under 13 boys race Sam Evans just mist out on the podium finishing in 4th place in 16 minutes 06 seconds and Jordan Jones finished in 43rd place overall 38th in 17 minutes 24 seconds in the British Road Race Championships and the team finished in 6th place in the Inter Regional Team Championships. In the under 15 girls race Lauren Ferris finished 53rd overall 45th in the British Championships in 18 minutes 36 seconds.
In the main race Graham Green who turned 50 just over a week ago ran superbly to finish in 74th place smashing his personal best time in recording 2 hours 32 minutes 01 seconds to win the over 50 age category.Graham was joined in the race by his two sons Ben who also smashed his best as he finished in 62nd place in 2 hours 30 minutes 20 seconds while Adam made his debut over the distance finishing in 1675th place in 2 hours 58 minutes 55 seconds.Steve Watmough also ran finishing in 1170th place in 2 hours 55 minutes 01 seconds placing 52 in the over 50 age group.Behind them Tony McCarthy finished 3433rd recording 3 hours 13 minutes 31 seconds for36th in the over 55 age category.Graham and Ben who ran a World Best Time for two family members last year took more than 16 minutes off that time this year.
