National under 20/23 Championships Bedford 20-21st June 2015

The National under 23 and under 20 Championships including Trials for the European Under 20 championships and World Youth Championships were held at Alexander Stadium over the weekend of 20th/21st June with four Warrington Athletic Club athletes taking part.
In the under 20ís Carys McAulay qualified comfortably through her heat in the 800 metres on Saturday with a time of 2 minutes 10.52 seconds.In the Final on Sunday with 4 other Scots in the race she ran well but had to concede best to Molly Long (Bristol & West) and Mhairi Hendry (Victoria Park City of Glasgow) taking the Bronze Medal in 2 minutes 09.62 seconds.
Also in the same Age Group Harriet Knowles-Jones ran well to take the Bronze Medal in the 3000 metres on Sunday also giving best to two older athletes finishing with a time of 9 minutes 39.10 seconds.Both women now wait to see if they will be selected for the World Youth Championships in Cali Colombia and also for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.
In the under 23 age group James Webster ran in the 400 metres hurdles finishing in 5th place in his heat in 54.10 seconds but did not progress to the final.In the 110 metres hurdles James Gladman finished 3rd in his heat in 14.45 seconds qualifying for the Final where he finished in 5th place with 14.59 seconds.James Gladman also ran in the 200 metres under 23 finishing 3rd in his heat in 21.40 seconds and then missing out on a medal in the final finishing in 4th place in 21.64 seconds.
Two other athletes both second claim members of Warrington Athletic Club took part in the under 23 Championships competing for their first claim clubs.In the 110 metres hurdles Alex Wort competing for Sale Harriers was 3rd in his heat in 14.56 seconds and in the final he recorded 14.69 seconds for 8th place.In the 1500 metres Cameron Field competing for Liverpool Harriers was 4th in his heat in 3 minutes 53.76 seconds and in the final he was 6th in 3 minutes 56.04 seconds.
