Dave Gill wins 10 medals at The World Police and Fire Games

Dave Gill on the podium with his gold medal for the winning the 800m race in the World Police and Firefighters GamesRetried Warrington firefighter, Dave Gill, has brought home 10 medals from The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) after spending 11 days in Washington DC competing in The Games.

Dave won seven gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal.

Here is Dave's impressive medal tally:
Gold - 400m 68.97 seconds
Gold - 400m Hurdles 83.67 seconds
Gold - 800m 2 minutes 23.17 seconds (personal best)
Gold - 1500m 4 minutes 59.57 seconds (personal best)
Gold - 3,000m Steeplechase 12 minutes 37.66 seconds
Gold - 5,000m 18 minutes 31.81 seconds (personal best as over 55)
Gold - Half Marathon With GB Team
Silver - 10,000m 42 minutes 28.36 seconds
Silver - Half Marathon individual 1 hour 35 minutes 05.8 seconds
Bronze - 4x400m Relay with GB Team

Dave competed over a tough seven day period on the track, and then he moved to the roads to end with a Half Marathon.

Dave Said: "I had to break three personal bests to win the 800m, 1500m and 5,000m races. My last day of competition was the Half Marathon, where I ended up with a hard fought individual silver medal, and a team gold. It was hard running in the heat and humidity but well worth it."
About the Games

The Games involve more than 67 countries.

Over 15,000 participants compete across 50 sports.Dave Gill, has brought home 10 medals from The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) after spending 11 days in Washington DC competing in The Games.

It's the second biggest sporting event after the Olympics.

The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is an event for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers. WPFG is the third largest international multi-sport event in the world.
