Cheshire Schools Championships Victoria Park Warrington Saturday 11th June 2016

Warrington Athletic Club athletes collected 12 Gold,5 silver and 5 Bronze medals at the Cheshire Schools Championships at Victoria Park Warrington on Saturday 11th June plus 3 Championship Best Performances.
In the Girls events the Golds came from Megan Kettle in the Intermediate Hammer with a new Championship Best Performance of 36.95 metres and Lauren Ferris in the Intermediate 1500 metres with a time of 4 minutes 48.7 seconds.The Silver medallists were Elizabeth Wright Intermediate 300 metres in 44.2 seconds and Rebecca Hardy in the Intermediate 300 metres hurdles in 51.7 seconds.Behind Rebecca in the 300 metres hurdles Eve Lloyd took the Bronze with 58.1 seconds and in the Intermediate 200 metres Eleanor Hough also took the Bronze Medal in 27.8 seconds.In the Intermediate triple Jump Hannah Shaw took the Bronze Medal with a jump of 9.37 metres while in the 3000 metres in the same age group Isabelle Trevithick got the Bronze with a time of 11 minutes 39.3 seconds.
In the Boys events there were 9 Gold Medals coming from Junior Boys Joe Williams 80 metres hurdles in 12.8 seconds (12.6 seconds in heat) and Josh Herrington in the High Jump with a new Championship Best Performance of 1.77 metres.In the Intermediate Boys Fisayo Williamson-Taylor won in a new personal best and Championship Best Performance of 11.0 seconds while Jamie Pickett took the 200 metres in 23.7 seconds,Tom Baines the 400 metres in 51.3 seconds,Sam Rostron the 3000 metres in 9 minutes 13.9 seconds and Ethan Baird 100 metres hurdles.In the Senior Boys Ben Sutcliffe and Cameron Meakin shared 4 medals between them with Ben taking the Gold in the 110 metres hurdles and Triple Jump with 15.6 seconds and 12.26 metres respectively while Cameron took the Silver in the hurdles with 15.6 seconds and the Gold in the Long Jump with 5.79 metres.
Silver Medals came from Sam Evans in the Junior 1500 metres with 4 minutes 21.8 seconds,Jack Stubbings Intermediate 1500 metres 4 minutes 08.7 seconds while Jordan Jones took the Bronze Medal in the Junior 1500 metres with 4 minutes 33.8 seconds.
There were many other good performances with many setting new personal best performances.Those in the Junior and Intermediate Age Groups who finished in the first two places now go to the Mason Trophy Inter County meeting on Saturday 18th June in Birmingham and then provided they have the necessary qualifying performances they await selection for the English Schools Championships.
