North West Counties Road Relays Delamere Forest I Saturday 10th September 2016

The North West Road Relays incorporating the Cheshire Relays were held on Saturday 10th September around the paths of Delamere Forest with Warrington Athletic Club being represented in all races bar the Senior race.

The day started with the under 11 race which was run Girls and Boys together.

In the Girls race Molly Wormald ran an excellent first leg for the A team to hand over in 2nd place with the 3rd fastest time of the day (6 minutes 37 seconds) to Amelia Smithers who ran well to maintain 2nd place recording 7 minutes 04 seconds.Lucie Davies took over for the final leg and also ran well to bring the team home to the Silver Medals in a total time of 20 minutes 45 seconds) also recording 7 minutes 04 seconds to share the 10th fastest time with Amelia. The B team of Harriet Bell (7 minutes 24 seconds),Shauna Clarke (8 minutes 14 seconds) and Lily Briscoe (7 minutes 39 seconds) finished in 17th place in a total time of 23 minutes 17 seconds.The A team were 1st Cheshire team to finish with the B team 7th.

In the boys race Jacob Cox ran an excellent race to hand over in 8th place in 6 minutes 44 seconds.Aaron Ferris took over and ran well recording 7 minutes 45 seconds to hand over in 12th place to Zack Allen who brought the team home in 11th place with a run of 7 minutes 14 seconds and a total time of 21 minutes 43 seconds to be 6th Cheshire team.

In the under 13 age group Girls race Eva Ferris led off for the A team but got a blister which affected her run as she came in 21st in 15 minutes 48 seconds. Ashley Nemits took over and ran well to move the team up to 11th place recording 14 minutes 59 seconds handing over to Rebecca Nixon for the final leg. Rebecca ran well to record 15 minutes 09 seconds to move up to 10th place with a total time of 45 minutes 56 seconds.the B team were led off by Orla Gregory who ran superbly to hand over in 11th place with a time of 14 minutes 43 seconds to Maisie Bell. Maisie also ran excellently to move up to 8th place recording 15 minutes 38 seconds. Jasmine Jones took over for the final leg and although dropping back to 14th place ran well recording 16 minutes 22 seconds for a total time of 46 minutes 43 seconds. Isobel Houghton ran the first leg for an incomplete C team recording 16 minutes 07 seconds in 23rd place. The A team finished 2nd in the Cheshire Championships with the b team in 3rd place.In the fastest times in Cheshire Orla was 4th,Ashley 6th,Rebecca 7th and Maisie 9th.

In the Boys race Rhys Hopkins led off on the first leg recording 14 minutes 53 seconds to hand over in 25th place to Reece Connell.Reece ran well to move up to 23rd place recording 15 minutes 17 seconds.Finlay Smith took over on the last leg and moved up to 21st place recording 16 minutes 36 seconds for a total time of 46 minutes 46 seconds to finish 7th Cheshire team.

In the under 15 age group Girls race the A team were led off by India Hayes who ran well to hand over in 10th place in 14 minutes 05 seconds to Olivia Doodson.Olivia ran well moving up to 6th place recording 14 minutes 13 seconds before handing over to Lucia Meloni.Lucia ran well on the final leg bringing the team home in 7th place with 14 minutes 58 seconds and a total time of 43 minutes 16 seconds to take the Bronze Medals in the Cheshire Championships. The B team were led off by Siobhan Gregory who handed over 17th in 14 minutes 51 seconds to Emily Jackson. Emily ran well to record 16 minutes 23 seconds in 21st place to Natalie Chamun. Natalie ran well but there appears to have been some sort of mixup as 8 out of the final 10 teams at the end of the second leg have been recorded as failing to finish and Natalie�¢ï¿½ï¿½s time is unknown although she did finish the race.

In the Boys race Isaaq Ataullah ran well on the first leg for the A team to record 12 minutes 59 seconds in 15th place before handing over to Joe Buckley. Joe ran well moving the team up to 6th place with a time of 12 minutes 03 seconds. Jordan Jones took over for the final leg and ran an excellent race to bring the team home in 3rd place (second Cheshire) with 11 minutes 52 seconds and a total time of 36 minutes 54 seconds.Jordan's time was the 3rd fastest in the race and 2nd fastest Cheshire time while Joe Buckley was 6th fastest Cheshire time.

In the under 17 Women's race Amy Nuttall ran excellently on the first leg for the A team to record the 6th fastest time of the race (1st Cheshire) with 13 minutes 22 seconds in 5th place.Elizabeth Wright took over for the second leg moving the team up to 4th place with a time of 13 minutes 50 seconds handing over to Lauren Ferris.Lauren ran well on the final leg to move up to 3rd place recording a time of 13 minutes 34 seconds for a total time of 40 minutes 46 seconds to take the Cheshire Gold Medals.The B team of Melissa Boyer (14 minutes 17 seconds),Lauren Goddard (13 minutes 59 seconds) and Isabelle Trevithick (14 minutes 23 seconds) finished in 7th place in a total time of 42 minutes 39 seconds to take the Cheshire Silver Medals.in the Cheshire fastest times all six were in the top 8 times with Amy 1st,Lauren Ferris 3rd,Elizabeth Wright 4th,Lauren Goddard 6th,Isabelle 7th and Melissa 8th.

In the Men's race Daniel Fox took the first leg running well to hand over in 8th place in 25 minutes 34 seconds to Jack Sturridge. Jack ran well moving up to 7th place recording 25 minutes 02 seconds.Sam Rostron took the final leg and moved the team up to 4th with a time of 25 minutes 18 seconds and taking the Silver Medals in the Cheshire with a total time of 1 hour 15 minutes 54 seconds.

The day was brought to a close by the Senior Men's race where the A team were led off by under 20 Chris Fance who ran well to hand over to Jack Green with a time of 23 minutes 34 seconds in 16th place. Jack ran well recording 24 minutes 50 seconds to hand over in 19th place. NIck Jones took over for the 3rd leg having said that he could not go home without a medal as his children both had won medals and ran excellently to move the team up to 12th place and 3rd Cheshire with 23 minutes exactly. Jack's dad Andy Green then took over for the final leg and moved the team up to 10th place with 24 minutes 25 seconds to take the Cheshire Bronze Medals in a total time of 1 hour 35 minutes 49 seconds.On the first leg Tom Mills ran well for an incomplete team recording a time of 24 minutes 36 seconds in 27th place. Nick was 3rd equal fastest and Chris 7th fastest in Cheshire
