Northern Road Relays, Manchester | 25th September 2016

Harriet Knowles-Jones led the way for Warrington Athletic Club's senior women team as they finished a creditable 14th place in the Northern Athletics Road Relay Championships on Sunday.

Knowles-Jones ran the fastest time in the race, held at Sports City, Manchester, completing the third of four legs in 16 minutes 30 seconds. Team-mates Katie Lowery, Victoria Ramsbottom and Alysha Goddard all represent the club at Under-20s level.

This capped an impressive day for the Warrington athletes, with the Under-17 women's relay - Lauren Ferris, Elizabeth Wright and Lauren Goddard - finishing fourth overall. The B-team of Melissa Boyer, Chloe Mason and Isabelle Trevithick finished 12th.

And the club's under-15 boys also came home in seventh place, with Jordan Jones, Joe Buckley and Lucas Hayes completing the three legs in just under 30 minutes. Jones ran the sixth overall fastest leg in nine minutes, 17 seconds.

The Under-15s girls - Siobhan Gregory, Lucia Meloni and Olivia Doodson came home in 16th place.

Earlier in the day, Ashley Nemits ran the second fastest time on the second leg of the Under-13 girls race in 11 minutes 18 seconds while Rebecca Nixon was 10th fastest on the third leg in 11 mins 41 as the team finished in 11th place. Orla Gregory ran the first leg in an impressive 11mins 31 seconds.

Warrington B-team under-13 girls Isobel Houghton, Maisie Bell and Eva Ferris also ran a solid relay on a rain-soaked course around the Etihad Stadium to come home in 26th place.

For the boys, Rhys Hopkins led the way with a first leg of 11 minutes 30, with Reece Connell and Finlay Smith achieving 22th place for the Under-13 A-team. Danny Hartland, Gareth McClory and William Bainbridge brought the B-team home in 25th place with a total time of 37 minutes, 11 seconds.

Warrington Athletic Club's senior men's team finished in a very creditable 37th place in a relay in which there were 100 teams competing. Chris Fance ran an impressive first leg to finish 43rd in 17 minutes 58 seconds. Jack Green ran really well to hold the team in 43rd position when he finished the second leg of the relay in 18 minutes 45 seconds - in which Jack clocked a PB for the first 5k of the course. Daniel Richardson ran really well to finish the third leg in 20 minutes and 33 seconds in 54th position. Rafael Meloni made his debut in a the men's relay team and had a great race to finish in 20 minutes and 43 seconds before handing over to Nick Jones in 55th position. Nick Jones stormed through the field to bring the team home in 45th position, clocking an impressive time of 17 minutes and 29 seconds - which was also a 5k PB over the first 5k of the course for Nick. It was then up to V55 Andrew Green to finish the race for the team - Andrew overtook eight runners, when he completed the last leg of the relay in a brilliant 18 minutes and 28 seconds, bringing the team home in an excellent 37th Position.
