Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships I 4th Feb 2017

The Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships were held on Saturday 4th February at Knight's Grange Sports Complex in Winsford with 31 Warrington Athletic Club runners taking part most competing for Warrington with four for Ellesmere Port and one for Halton.

Top performances came from Lauren Ferris (Senior Girls) and Joe Buckley (Intermediate Boys) with both taking the Gold Medal and close behind was Luke Gamble (Senior Boys) taking a Bronze Medal.

In the Minor Girls Race Orla Gregory ran excellently as did Maisie Bell with Orla 5th and Maisie 8th. Next in was Eva Ferris in 15th followed by Nicole Eastburn (Ellesmere Port) 22nd, Isobel Houghton 23rd, Hannah McClorey (Ellesmere Port) 25th, Jasmine Jones 33rd and Olivia Chamun 56th.

In the Minor Boys Rhys Hopkins (Halton) was 13th with Alex Lavery (Ellesmere Port) 19th, Reece Connell 21st, Gareth McClorey (Ellesmere Port) 42nd and Danny Hartland 43rd.

In the Minor Girls and Minor Boys age group, the first 20 in each race will now be selected to run in an Inter County race in a few weeks.

In the Junior Girls race Emily Jackson ran well to finish 20th with Natalie Chamun 22nd and Isla Kenworthy 46th.

in the Junior Boys Isaaq Ataullah ran excellently to finish 6th and was followed home by Joel Birchall 15th, Lucas Hayes 20th, Joe Roberts 26th and William Bainbridge 50th.

In the Intermediate Girls there were very good runs from Amy Nuttall 7th, Lucy Baxter 10th and Olivia Doodson 11th

In the Intermediate Boys race, behind Joe Buckley's Gold, Jack Wadsworth ran excellently to finish in 11th place.

In the Senior Girls race, Lauren Ferris was the only Warrington runner, taking the Gold.

In The Senior Boys race, behind Luke Gamble's excellent Bronze Medal, Jack Stubbings was 6th with Sam Rostron 8th and Daniel Fox 9th.
