Manchester Area XC League Woodbank Park I 11th Feb 2017

The final round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League took place on Saturday 11th February at Woodbank Memorial Park Stockport over a tough and very muddy course.

Warrington Athletic Club had 21 runners competing.

The day started with the under 11 race with Molly Wormald first to finish in the girls in 34th place in 12 minutes dead with Emily Entwistle close behind in 35th in 12.02.Lucie Davies completed the counting team runners in 37th place in 12.08 and Amelia Smithers was one behind in 38th in 12.14. Harriet Bell completed the squad in 51st place in 12.52. The team finished in 13th place on 106 points.

In the under 13 race Rhys Hopkins and Reece Connell both unfortunately were brought down in the melee at the start but worked there way back up the field to finish in 34th and 38th places in 13.11 and 13.17 respectively.

Under 13 girls Eva Ferris and Maisie Bell again had a very close race to finish in 18th and 19th places in 13.50 and 13.51 respectively with Isobel Houghton 30th in 14.32 and Jasmine Jones 39th in 15.20. The team finished in 8th place on 67 points.

In the under 15 race Joe Buckley continued his recent good form to take victory in 14.50 with Jordan Jones taking 3rd in 15.07 and Isaaq Ataullah 15th in 16.30 to finish 2nd in the team event on 19 points. Joe Roberts completed the squad in 23rd place in 17.17. In the overall league contest Joe and Jordan finished up with 10 points each and could not be separated on countback, so both boys were awarded 2nd place in the series competition. And the U15 boys team took the overall title by one point from Macclesfield.

Under 15 girls Olivia Doodson finished in 12th place on 18.34 with Isla Kenworthy and Fay Humphreys 32nd and 33rd in 26.17 and 26.31 respectively. The team finished in 7th place with 77 points.

In the under 17 men's race Sam Rostron ran excellently to finish in 2nd place with 21.40 which moved him up to 2nd in the overall League contest.

Under 17 Lauren Ferris ran excellently to score her 4th win in the league with 24.41 to take the overall league title.

Chris Fance was the final runner from the club in the senior mens race finishing in 65th place in 41.24 to finish 7th under 20.
