Northern Athletics Age Group Championships Leigh I 19-20th August 2017

The Northern Athletics Age Group Championships took place over the weekend at Leigh Sports Village over the weekend of 19-20th August with ten Warrington Athletic Club Athletes taking part and winning three medals.

On the Saturday 19th August, U17 Jordan Jones made his debut over the 1500 metres Steeplechase and returned home with the Silver Medal recording a time of 4 minutes 54.68 seconds. Also on the Saturday U17 Cameron Duff finished in 2nd place in his heat of the 200 metres in 23.80 seconds and in the final he finished in 5th place in 23.94 seconds. In the High Jump U17 Josh Herrington was also 5th with a leap of 1.75 metres. U15 Lucas Hayes was 4th in the 80 metres hurdles in a time of 13.19 seconds.

In the Women's events U17 Ellie Hough was 6th in her heat of the 100 metres with a time of 14.16 seconds and Megan Kettle was 9th in the Hammer with a throw of 40.31 metres. Ashley Nemits finished 3rd in the girls 300 metres in her heat with a time of 43.08 seconds to qualify for the final where she finished 6th in a time of 43.02 seconds.

On Sunday U17 Joe Buckley collected the Bronze Medal in the 3000 metres with a time of 9 minutes 32.58 seconds. And U17 Olivia Baker was 8th in the 800m in a time of 2 minutes 25.20 seconds.

In the U15 Boys High Jump Lucas Hayes collected the Bronze Medal with a new personal best jump of 1.60 metres.

In the under 13 age group Amelia Smithers recorded a new personal best in the 200 metres finishing 7th in her heat in 30.57 seconds and recorded 2 minutes 45.44 seconds in the 800 metres.
