Manchester Area XC League Heaton Park I 14th October 2017

Warrington Athletic Club athletes travelled to Heaton Park Manchester on Saturday 14th October for the first round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League.

Over a thousand runners took part in the race at Heaton Park. It was a fabulous event, and our runners all ran really well on what was a really tough and testing cross country course.

Top WAC performances included: V55 GOLD for Dave Norman (on his debut for race for Warrington AC). Team GOLD for our U17 men's team (Joe Buckley, Jordan Jones and Jack Wadsworth). V40 SILVER for Nick Jones. And BRONZE for Orla Gregory in the U13 race.

The U13 girls 'A team' finished in a fantastic 6th place , with Orla Gergory in 3rd, followed by Molly Wormald 25th and Maisie Bell 27th.

The 'B team' finished in 13th place, with Eva Ferris 34th, Lucie Davies 42nd and Isobel Houghton 45th.

The 'C team' finished in 21st place, with Emily Entwistle 59th, Jasmine Jones 71st and Shauna Clarke 75th. And Georgia Oakes was 79th.

In the U13 Boys race Erik Marshall was the only runner from the club - Erik ran excellently to finish in 8th place.

In the under 15 Girls race Jess Connolly made her debut for the club and was first home in 19th place, Fay Humphreys 57th and Isla Kenwothy 59th - the team finished 14th.

Our U17 Men�s team won 'team gold' with Joe Buckley 5th, Jordan Jones 6th and Jack Wadsworth 14th.

In the U17 women�s race Olivia Baker finished in 12th place.

There were over 250 finishers in senior/under 20 Women�s race. Caroline Jones was the first finisher in 99th overall and placed 11th in the V40 age group. And Rachel McQuillan finished in 124th overall and placed 7th in the under 20 age group.

The final race of the day was the Senior/under 20 Men�s race, where 414 runners completed the course! Nick Jones had an excellent run to finish in 14th place overall and 2nd V40. Followed by Chris Fance 38th, Jack Green 42nd and Dave Norman (making his debut for the club having recently changing clubs from Wirral AC ) finishing in 111th place overall to win the V55 age group.
