Manchester Area Cross Country League's second race at a very muddy Boggart Hole Clough was on Saturday 11th November, where we had a large turnout from Warrington Athletic Club.

The day started with the under 11 age group where in the Girls race Eva Karalius had an excellent run to move through the field after a steady start to finish in 7th place in 8.32 mins. Eva was followed home by Alice Nicholson (9.14) in 22nd place and Corin Smith (9.15) in 23rd place to finish in 7th place in the team race on 50 points. Next to finish was Esme Heavey (9.34) in 34th place, Rhiannon Wilkes (9.36) in 36th place and Harriet Bell (9.42) in 40th place for 10th place in the team race and 2nd B team on 107 points. The squad was completed by Evie Owen (9.48) in 43rd place and Amelia Smith (10.01) in 51st place.

In the Boys race our two runners Rory Gregory and Jacob Pryor finished in 26th and 27th places recording times of 8.47 seconds and 8.49 mins respectively.

In the under 13 age group Orla Gregory had an excellent run to finish in 3rd place in 12.14 mins and with Eva Ferris (13.25) in 18th place and Maisie Bell (13.35) in 23rd place the team finished in 4th place in the team race on 44 points. The B team of Molly Wormald (14.05) in 34th place, Lucie Davies (14.06) in 35th place and Emily Entwistle (14.20) in 45th place finished in 11th place in the team race and B team on 114 points. The squad was completed by Isobel Houghton (14.40) in 59th place and Jasmine Jones (15.18) in 73rd place.

In the under 15 age group Jess Connolly finished in 25th place in 20.47 and Faye Humphreys finished 49th with 25.16 mins.

In the U15 boys race Isaaq Ataullah and Joel Birchall had a race long duel to finish in excellent 6th and 7th places with times of 16.23 and 16.25 mins respectively.

Olivia Baker was the only runner in the under 17 women¢ï¿½ï¿½s race finishing in 15th place recording a time of 28.34 while in the under 17 men¢ï¿½ï¿½s race chaos reigned when the first nine went off course and missed out a large part of the course. This resulted in the race referee having no option but to disqualify them which meant that Jack Wadsworth finished in 3rd place in 21 minutes 57 seconds.Joe Buckley and Jordan Jones were amongst the disqualified runners.

In the Senior/under 20 women¢ï¿½ï¿½s race under 20 Rachel McQuillan was first to finish in 132nd place in 41.48 placing her in 10th place in the under 20 age group. Emma Pryor finished in 174th place in 43.38 placing her 31st in the 35-39 age group.

The day was brought to a close by the Senior/under 20 men¢ï¿½ï¿½s race. Where under 20 Daniel Fox ran an excellently judged race to finish in 21st place in 34.39 placing him in 2nd place in the U20 age group. Next to finish in 36th place was new Spanish recruit Paulo Artime making his debut for the club with a time of 36.07 seconds. Paulo has run cross country in his homeland but the courses there tend to be quite flat and mostly dry and although he was in the first 10 places after the first small lap he found the swampy conditions extremely tough and dropped back through the field describing the course as crazy in places. Jack Green (37.32) was next to finish in 66th place with Chris Fance (38.37) in 99th place and Dave Norman (41.10) in 169th place placing him as 4th V55 with all three finding the extremely muddy conditions quite tough.

Well done all, fab results on what is always a difficult muddy course. Hope you've all recovered from Boggart mudfest.
