The North of England Indoor Championships for Senior, under 20 and under 17 were held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield over the weekend - with four Warrington Athletic club athletes competing and coming back with three medals.

At under 17 level Cameron Duff (see photo below) qualified from his 200 metres heat in 1st place with 23.40 seconds then in the Semi-Final he again won in 23.27 seconds to go through to the final. In the Final he finished in Silver Medal position again going faster than the previous round with 23.17 seconds with the race won in 22.70.All three times were personal bests indoors by Cameron.

Also in the under 17 age group Josh Herrington won a Bronze Medal in the High Jump with a lead of 1.85 metres sharing the Bronze with another athlete and just missing out on the Silver on countback as three athletes cleared 1.85 metres with the Gold being won at 1.90 metres.

In the under 20 age group Tom Baines had a superb result having qualified from his 400 metres heat winning it in 50.96 seconds he collected the Bronze Medal smashing his personal best time indoors and outdoors with a run of 48.96 seconds. This time is faster than the club record outdoors set by John Harrison in 1966 and just outside the Senior club record held by Ben Green and both must be under threat from Tom come the Summer.

In the under 20 men's 60 metres Fisayo Williamson-Taylor qualified from his heat in 2nd place with 7.18 seconds but in the final he had to settle for 5th place with 7.26 seconds.
